"Readers should consider its messages and economic implications. What do we really want for ourselves, as individuals and a nation, as we age....The true mission of "Shock of Gray" is a...call to confront the demographic drama now unfolding in many middle- and high-income countries, not to proffer solutions."

Los Angeles Times

Ted’s deep affection for Indonesian society and culture began when he lived in Yogyakarta and taught at Gadjah Mada University, as a young, post-graduate Fellow with Princeton in Asia. Fluent in bahasa Indonesian, Ted brings his signature curiosity, intellectual heft, and humor to his analysis of Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

Currently a fellow with the Indonesian Scholarship and Research Support Foundation (ISRSF) a Jakarta-based non-profit in social sciences and public policy, Ted brings expertise on the rise of Indonesia on the global economic stage and its increasingly urgent role as a bellwether for environmental issues.
